Sexpression Leicester Sexpression Leicester is part of the national charity Sexpression UK, whose main aim is to deliver inclusive sex and relationship education in schools. Whilst teaching in local schools is a big part of our volunteering, there are also other activities such as Fresher's Fairs, delivering consent workshops to university societies, HIV testing, charity stalls, bake sales and speaking at our Sextended Talks. There is also plenty of room for creativity and fundraising ideas!
Where is the volunteering work based at? Volunteering will most of the time take place in local schools or on university campus. How can students apply? Sign up to Sexpression Leicester via the SU website or in person at fresher's fairs.
Are there any eligibility criteria for applicants? To teach in schools you must attend child protection and session training. You are unable to work with children until all training requirements from Sexpression UK are met, and that you have a valid DBS. The training usually consists of one evening for about 2 hours, and usually run more than once to allow us to get as many people trained as possible. For our other volunteering such as bake sales, no training is required. For volunteering on HIV testing stalls training on how to do this will be given at the time, and for contraception stalls knowledge of the subject is a prerequisite (although we are happy to help with this also!)
Is there a minimum number of hours that students need to volunteer for? Nope! Get involved with as much or as little as you like!
