 Sunday 18th - ​Meet the Freshers

Saturday 17th is moving in day, where you'll get settled into your accommodation and meet the rest of your year. The LUSUMA committee will also be around to help answer any queries. Later in the evening, you'll also get a chance to meet us, your LUSUMA committee for the upcoming year and ask any questions you may have. Its also a great opportunity to meet other freshers! 
On Sunday 18th, as more of your peers move in, there will be a chance to mingle, meet more of the LUSUMA committee. The afternoon will involve rounders at Stoughton fields where you can relax and get to know some of the older medical students. In the evening we go to the Locker Room in Leicester where all the freshers can socialise and play some games. There will be buses departing from Oadby at 7:30pm.

Monday 19th - "Meet the Medic Parents"

Settling to uni life can be a real shock to your system and a steep learning curve. To help you through this process, we've assigned you two medic parents. These are two second year medical students who can act as mentors and show you the ropes. Whether its advice, help settling in or just to socialise, your medic parents will be on hand to help you through your journey at med school through the next 5 years. Other first year students will share these parents, "medic siblings" if you will, giving a chance to meet new people as reassuring you, you aren't alone in this new chapter of your life.

There will challenges for you to complete as a "medic family", with prizes going to the winning families so get your game faces on!

Tuesday 20st - PJ Pub and Grub Crawl

Regarded as one of the best nights of the year, the PJ Pub Crawl (as the name suggests) sees you freshers jumping into your pyjamas and taking to the high streets of Leicester for some drinks and grub. The older years will be present in a variety of themed costumes to help warmly welcome you to Leicester.  The Pub and Grub Crawl are two separate routes that run parallel to each other, allowing drinkers and non-drinkers to experience the culture of Leicester without alienating anybody.

Wednesday 21nd - Bowling

Need a break from the two big nights - here is another chance to chat. Time to let your hair down and have a good time. This year we will be doing bowling! Make sure you book yourself a slot to go for it!

Thursday 22rd - Sports Night or Sober Social

Spoilt for choice with what sports team to join, now is your time to choose whatever takes your fancy and get involved with them. If you’re just a fanatic watching instead of playing, it’s a perfect chance to get your favourite top or kit on.

​If you're not much of a sportsperson, we will also be running a Sober Social which will involve Laser Tag at MegaZone (limited numbers so sign up quick once the Google Form is released) and refreshements at Tim Hortons.

Friday 23th - Freshers' Formal

​Wrapping up the fun-filled week, you can continue to celebrate the start of your journey with a formal dinner, smart, glam outfits and finish off with a night out. If you want Waikiki will be open after the ball to go and celebrate!
