Medics' Revue

Picture
Enjoy having a laugh at medicine or life in general?
Lack dignity?

Then Medics' Revue is the place for you!

Be it making a fool of yourself on stage; writing sketches; creating decidedly phallic looking props; or short circuiting the national grid with your lighting skills; we have a place where you can be safely live your wildest dreams and meet like-minded others!

We will have a variety of meet ups this year for new and experienced, young and old alike. Don't worry, you won't be forced straight onto the stage or tasked with cleaning up fake blood! Keep an eye on our social media for more accurate details, or get in touch with one of our fabulous committee members.

Please note that we are very much amateur who would love to appear like professional actors...in reality, most of us were welcomed in having never done anything like this before. Please don't let a lack of experience stop you from joining us:)

@leicestermedicsrevue

You might be thinking something like "I thought 'Revue' meant something to do with revision, none of this sounds like revision. What the blazes is a 'Revue' anyway?"
Well, it turns out that it means "a light theatrical entertainment consisting of a series of short sketches, songs, and dances, typically dealing satirically with topical issues."
Who knew?

Our Committee

Ziyaad
 President

Picture
Ziyaad has been a dedicated member of revue since he spawned as a wee fresher and has always brought life to the shows. There is no better choice for president than the man who drove 2 hours every week to make rehearsals. We look forward to the new management he can bring to our dysfunctional table (possibly keeping his costume intact this time).

Josh
Co-
Vice President

Picture
The only thing more terrifying than Josh Ingram hurtling towards you for a rugby tackle is seeing him transform into Mr. Butcher the unhinged orthopod. Josh joined revue two years ago and has become an invaluable part of the team with his brilliant comedic timing, love of stripping and all round organisational skills. Of course, it's the organisational skills that are most important to our society. The organisational skills...

Emma
Co-Vice President

Picture

Emma joined our ranks last year and has proven that she is certainly revue material. From singing in showcase musical parodies to embodying a variety of roles, she has excelled in every field. If for whatever reason you need a singing consultant with a pencilled moustache you know who to call. Nope, not ghostbusters, but our amazing Emma.

Zahid
Treasurer

Picture
Zahid came to our rescue last year with his nifty ability to sort out our A/V. If you ever wondered if it was possible to Rick Roll the BBC News countdown - well surprisingly it is. This year Zahid is using that transferable skill as our treasurer and one thing is certain, those funds are never gonna give you up.

Ellie
Secretary
Co-social Secretary

Picture
Ellie is one half of an up and coming musical duo in Leicester that specialises in parodying Christmas songs to describe the endless pains of medical school. The adaptation of of 'Fairytale of New York' was up for a Grammy but the organisers made a last minute decision to remove it as it wouldn't be fair to everyone else.

Maddie
Communications Officer

Co-social Secretary

Picture
Maddie is the other half of this musical pairing. Apart from music, she is an excellent actor who decided to method act her role as Dr. Watson last year in hopes of solving the mystery of what on earth is going on in medical school. She is still working hard on this endeavour. Everyone at revue wishes her well on this journey.

Dulciana
Wellbeing and Inclusion Officer

Picture
Dulciana. Or should I say Andrew Lloyd Webber. If you want a successful show with a big musical number for a finale you need Dulciana's special touch. Writing, acting, singing - she can do it all. This year Dulciana is our well-being officer, so if you are having a public and bitter break up with caffeine (*see Josh Ingram's profile for reference) we have just the person for you to see.

Amy
Co-Stage Manager

Picture
Genuinely, I believe that Amy can tell the future. Not like in Back to the future but as in if she said don’t stand in that spot a grand piano will fall from a great height and it won’t be pretty. My reason for this was Amy’s contribution behind the scenes in Revue. She organised props and more so organised people, ensuring everything was where it needed to be. So be warned everyone, if Amy predicts it’s going to rain today you best bring an umbrella.

Ibtisam
Co-Stage Manager

Picture
For all of Revue’s chaos, we need some people who know what’s going on. And that came to us in the form of Ibtisam. Last year, props were ready, people were told where to be and the messiest stage was cleaned up (relatively) between scenes. We are incredibly grateful to have Ibtisam on the team pulling the strings like our very own Revue puppet master.
Peter
A/V Manager
Picture
Peter was an enormous help with A/V this
year, so much that we promoted him to the
head of A/V. Need microphones sorted? Speakers?
Peter is your man. We have so much faith in
him that we are pushing him for the role of
'Q' in the next James Bond movie.

Every year we put on a show and donate the proceeds to charity, last year our chosen cause was Leicester Children's Hospital Appeal.
Picture
We would like say a special thanks to our charity raffle sponsors last year who are provided us with awesome prizes!
We hope to work with them all again next year and if you are interested too in contributing to our next year's raffle or sponsor our show do get it touch!
