Welcome to the University of Leicester NeuroSoc!
LUSUMA’s sub-society for Neurology and Neurosurgery
Do you have an interest with the complex world of neuroscience? Do you want an insight on having a successful specialisation application? Or do you perhaps need help with revising perplexing topics for your exams? Well, that’s what NeuroSoc is here for. We plan on bringing you the best resources and revision sessions to help you ace neurology!
We aim to spark an intrigue and raise awareness of career pathways to make this fascinating field accessible to all. Neurology is universally percieved as one of the most challenging subjects in medical school. It has long engendered many students and even junior doctors in practice limiting the quality of care our patients deserve. The term ‘neurophobia’ fully encapsulates this phenomenon that was defined as “the fear of the neural sciences and clinical neurology” coined by Jozefowicz in 1994. It has been a well recognised endemic in medical schools. Research have shown that a massive contributor to this is not having a concrete understanding of basic neuroscience and neuroanatomy. Neurosoc strives on addressing this by hosting valuable revision events throughout the year.
