Welcome to Leicester Medics Netball Club's LUSUMA page! Here you can find information about what we offer including information about our training, matches and socials.
At LMNC we are a friendly club who welcomes all years and abilities. We have three excellent student coaches who run our weekly training sessions and ensure that the sessions are appropriate for all our members- no matter how experienced you are. Whether you have played a lot or a little or are new to the sport everyone is welcome!!
We have two training sessions per week (one weeknight and one weekend session). You can come to as many or as few as you like. Our training times are as follows:
Throughout the year we compete in numerous tournaments; we have both competitive and relaxed/social teams to ensure there is something for everyone. Here is a bit of information about some of the tournaments we compete in:
LMNC really does feel like one big family hence we love to organise plenty of socials. We recognise not every university student, contrary to the misconceptions out there, likes to drink hence we include plenty of non-drinking socials too. Some examples of our socials include Sheffest, family social, pizza and movie night, Christmas meal, sports awards and so many more. Our lovely tour secs also organise an annual tour which is open to the whole club.

At LMNC we are a friendly club who welcomes all years and abilities. We have three excellent student coaches who run our weekly training sessions and ensure that the sessions are appropriate for all our members- no matter how experienced you are. Whether you have played a lot or a little or are new to the sport everyone is welcome!!
We have two training sessions per week (one weeknight and one weekend session). You can come to as many or as few as you like. Our training times are as follows:
- Tuesday 19:00 - 21:00 at Sir Jonathans North just off Welford Road
- Saturday's 13:00 - 15:00 at Roger Beetles Sports Hall in Oadby (a 2 minute walk from Oadby Student Village)
Throughout the year we compete in numerous tournaments; we have both competitive and relaxed/social teams to ensure there is something for everyone. Here is a bit of information about some of the tournaments we compete in:
- NAMs: we play against other local medical schools from October to February. This year we have entered two teams to allow more people to play. We plan to have two competitive teams this year requiring regular commitment to training. Each team plays roughly about six NAMs matches before the finals weekend (which is usually in March).
- Campus league: we play against other subject or society teams (e.g. Law, Physics etc..) most weeks. Matches tend to be shorter than NAMs and are much more relaxed. This is a great league for all abilities to play in!
- Varsity: this is a huge competition between Leicester Medical School and Nottingham Medical school; all the medic sports go head to head to see which medical school will be crowned winner. Varsity is one of our most competitive matches of the year. We usually enter two teams but the whole club comes to support us and cheer us on! After the games we have a social with the Nottingham Netball team and then with all the other sports teams at both Leicester and Nottingham. This is an event not to be missed even if you aren't playing!
